Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily Defense Sunscreen

Kiehl’s  claims that the new formulation of the sunscreen now offers better anti-aging protection, and in particular UVA protection (the type of sun exposure that causes long term aging. In addition, the company also says that this product also:

  • Prevents up to 90% of skin aging, including lines and wrinkles, uneven texture and tone, breakdown of collagen and elastin, brown spots.
  • Oil-free, ultra-lightweight texture delivers a synergistic UV filtering system combining patented photo-stabilized technology with long-lasting broad-spectrum protection to deliver outstanding efficacy against UVA & UVB rays on the skin’s surface.

  • Paraben-free, mineral-oil-free, fragrance-free, colorant-free, and suitable for sensitive skin
  • Quick-to-absorb – ultra-lightweight texture
  •  It has a refreshing feel on the skin after application
  •  Glowy matte finish
  • Non-comedogenic – does not clog pores and so no breakouts!

The main sunscreen filters in this product are Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (UVB protection), Drometrizole Trisiloxane (aka Mexoryl XL, a L’Oreal patented ingredient, with UVA2 protection), Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid (aka Mexoryl SX, another L’Oreal patented ingredient, and has UVA1 and UVA2 protection), and Titanium Dioxide (UVA2 and UVB protection). Other ingredients are Mexoryl SX, Mexoryl XL,Vitamin E, Aqua/Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Propylene Glycol, Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid, Titanium Dioxide, Drometrizole Trisiloxane, Alcohol Denat, Triethanolamine, Stearic Acid, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Nylon-12, PEG-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Aluminium Hydroxide, Methylparaben, Sodium Cocoyl Sarcosinate, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Tocopherol, Tromethamine, Ethylparaben, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 80.

Kiehl’s has also added a few plant extracts (in small amounts) to the sunscreen – at the end, we see a bunch of plant extracts, including Corn Kernel, Yeast, Peppermint Leaf, and Rosa Gallica Flower extract (which I’m told helps to calm the skin).

Our take:

The sunscreen is very matte and does not feel oily on the skin, blends really well.

Won’t make you break out which is a ++++

Winter Care!

Drastic weather changes affect our skin the most. The heat might be gone, but it has been replaced by chilling cold; no longer sweaty faces but we now have dry and flaky skin, lanky frizzy hair & dry chapped lips.

If this happens to you too, then you should read our Winter Skin and Hair Care Rituals, these 8 tips will definitely save you from a very dry winter 😛
1. Keep Your Body Hydrated
Sometimes in winter we don’t realise we are thirsty. Ensure you keep yourself hydrated and don’t let the water intake reduce.
2. Keep It Cool
A 20-minute long, boiling-hot shower might feel great on a cold day, but stick to warm or lukewarm water for 5 minutes or less. Long exposure to hot water can strip moisture from hair and skin.
3. Oil Massage
Apply a thin layer of oil to the body after showering this helps to maintain the moisture in your body and prevents skin from cracking due to dryness.
4. Some TLC for your hair
Winter time means extra attention to your hair. Shampooing strips moisture from the scalp and hair, so wash your hair every other day. Everyone’s hair is different—if washing once or twice a week is normal for you, consider adding some time between shampoos to take dry winter conditions into account. And don’t skip the conditioner!
5. Moisturise your feet
Your feet face the brunt of winter. Calloused feet are as common as the cold during winter and most often ignored. Ensure you exfoliate and moisturise your feet to prevent them from cracking. Don’t wait for winter to get to them to start taking care of them. Moisturize feet, especially the heels, every day with thick cream—lotions containing lactic acid are especially effective—and wear cotton socks to bed
6. Don’t let your lips get chapped!
Keep a tube of lipbalm (my favourite is Cococare Cocao Butter Lip Balm) handy always. But sometimes that isn’t enough. If your lips are extra flaky, take a dry toothbrush gently over them to exfoliate. Post that generously apply vaseline (which you can remove after 15-20mins with a warm cottom swab) this will ensure your lips stay and look healthy!
7. Scalp Care
Itchy and flaky scalp is a common effect for the winter. It can get embarassing and uncomfortable. To prevent this gently massage your scalp with vitamin e oil or organic coconut oil. This will help take care of your scalp.
8. Face Cleanse and Moisturise
The skin that is most effected by the winter in your face. It is the most exposed and needs extra care and loving especially in winter.  During winter, avoid any face products with alcohol, and switch to a milder face wash and a thicker moisturizer. Use natural products like milk, avocado, bananas etc to create face masks to take care of your skin. In addition don’t forget to moisturise post each shower.

Chanel- 2018 Spring Collection

Absolutely in love with Chanel 2018 Ready to Wear Collection.

The entire show set with a backdrop of waterfalls, mixing a texture of water, beauty and colours that make you feel relaxed got us awestruck. I like that the show was a bit extra!

Chanel known for never going overboard, sophisticated and with intricate designs has come up yet again with a collection that will make you feel beautiful by just looking at it.

The Face Shop: Mung Bean Face Mask

Hello Gorgeous!

As promised here is our review for the face shop face mask, I have 14 of these which means there are a variety of reviews coming your way soon.

What does the brand promise?

The Mungo Bean Real Nature Face Mask leaves skin clear and radiant. In just a couple of minutes, it helps eliminate impurities that clog your pores, to leave your skin dazzling.

What it delivers?

So my dehydrated skin wanted something extra to feel fresh and breath, I put this mask on for 20 mins and voila!

It is a bit messy to remove this mask from the packaging, very easy to tear if you have nails like mine, it has a very mild fragrance nothing that will irritate your nose.

Once you manage to put the mask on and relax it start drying up and becoming a part of your skin, no liquid drops on anything after application. Removing it is easy too, unlike the disaster charcoal mask videos.

Your skin feels fresh and quiet smooth post this mask, I would not recommend applying one pack daily though as it spoils your natural skin texture.

Which face mask should we review next? Aloe Vera or Avocado?

MAC- Studio Fix Review

Hello Lovelies!

Yes we know, we are pretty late to cover this product but then we only review products and talk about them if we USE them.

We are a team of women with oily skin, schedule full of regular meetings which gives us no time to groom ourselves and keep travelling in traffic, along with a weather that is so hot you can take oil from our skin and keep the sheikhs happy. What is one of our quick fix up our face and off to work rescue? MAC Studio Fix

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation- NC 42

Mac Claims: A one-step powder and foundation that provides a smooth, flawless, all-matte, full coverage finish. Long-wearing, velvety texture allows skin to breathe.

As I walked into the store for a powder that saves time in application as well as can be used for heavy coverage of marks and under eye circles (Thank you Netflix) they suggested an NC 42, on initial application it seemed yellowish on my skin tone but in natural light or under white light as the day goes the shade settles on my skin perfectly and keeps me looking fresh all day long.

The dry powder texture absorbs oil easily and gives a matte finish, no wonder it is the go to product for all MUA’s. I am neither a Pro or a MUA but I would recommend this for all the ladies who are always on the go, and like me have no time for a daily make up routine. If you want a heavier look I would recommend putting it over a liquid foundation base, the good thing about MAC products are they don’t let your skin feel heavy with their product applications and is dermatologically tested for all skin types.

Product Packaging:

It’s a got a black outer casing and there are 3 compartments inside. One is for the mirror, the second is for the product and the third is for a sponge case. I was quiet surprised when the MUA at the MAC store showed me the sponge available inside, it really is a time saver and very easy to clean.

Coverage duration: As the day goes the powder settles well on my skin and keeps my face looking fresh, one re- touch is required for it to last 6-7 hrs. There were no cakey layers on my skin and with just a  cleansing, moisturing and application of the powder my skin looks like it has a natural make up look.

To end this, I highly recommend this product to anyone who has no time or just wants to invest in an amazing loose powder.
